Wife and I went shopping today. I've been thinking of getting a MP3 player + recorder for sometime now. Passed by a Creative retail store at Marina. Sales guy was a friendly, patient and honest chap. Answered my questions. Let me try out a player. So I ended up buying this baby -- the Creative Zen V-plus:

Nice little gadget. At about 6cm x 4cm x 1cm, it fits into the palm or pocket neatly. FM receiver, audio recorder (pretty clear up to 1 metre), MP3 player, organiser, Calendar, Clock, removable disk, video player (OK for my needs)... At under $300 for a 8GB gadget with all the features, I guess it's a good buy. I'd even recommend it. It's certainly received relatively consistent positive reviews, like this and this one.

EXCEPT THAT THE SYNC SOFTWARE DOESN'T SUPPORT OS OTHER THAN WINDOWS! ARRGH!

*Sigh* I'm sure Creative would sell a lot more Zens if they support Macs and UMS music transfers. But not their fault . A less than perfect business decision, but not their fault nonetheless.

Let this be a reminder to me, never to buy on impulse. GRRR. I blame myself. Should've done my homework first. With verifiable information easily available on the Internet, I have absolutely no excuse.
